Each workshop will include a maximum of 4 people to ensure that everyone can get the most from the experience.
COST: of the 3 hour fused glass workshop is £55.00 or £60.00 to make a lantern. A £15.00 non-refundable deposit per person is required to be made at Carousel to secure your place; the balance is due on the day by cash or card.
The cost includes all of the materials and firings in the kiln, your completed work will be ready for collection in approximately 7/14 days and you will be advised by email when ready.
The workshops are suitable for beginners or returning makers, you do not need to have had any previous experience. There is no set design of glass to make and wherever possible you will be able to make items to your own design. During the workshop you will use glass sheets, crushed glass (frit), strands of glass (stringers) and small pieces of glass to make up to 3 items, you will also have the chance to try glass cutting if you would like to do this; if not Doug will have prepared blanks for you to use. Time permitting you may be able to make some small additional pieces like greetings cards. Doug will also be bringing several finished samples for you to look at as a guide only. If you have any specific designs you would like to make, please let him know via Carousel. There will be safety glasses, aprons and any other necessary safety items available.
The workshops are open to ages of 15 and above (under 18's to be accompanied by a participating adult) and no previous experience of glass working is required. Please wear enclosed footwear and suitable clothing.
