Fused Glass Lantern Workshop - 24th January 2026

On the 24th January 2026  start the New Year and get creative at Carousel’s latest fused glass workshop. Suitable for beginners or returning makers, you don’t need to have had any previous experience to have some fun creating your own works of glass art. 

 

The workshop is for 3 hours from 10.00am to 1.00pm and has a maximum of 4 people to ensure that everyone can get the most out of the workshop..

 

There is no set design of glass to make for the lanterns, wherever possible you will be able to make the lantern to your own design. I will also be bringing several finished samples for you to look at as a guide only. 

 

During the workshop you will use glass sheets, crushed glass (frit), strands of glass (stringers) and small pieces of glass to make the 4 or 5 sides of the lantern. There will be various lantern designs available for you to choose from.

 

Time permitting you may be able to make some small additional pieces like greetings cards.

 

If you have any specific designs you would like to make, please let me know via Carousel, and I will contact you before the workshop by email just to confirm any specific requirements, I will try if possible to make sure that I have the necessary glass available.

During the workshop you will have the chance to try glass cutting if you would like to do this, if not I will have prepared base blanks for you to use. There will be safety glasses, aprons and any other necessary safety items available.

The workshops are suitable for ages of 15 and above (under 18's to be accompanied by a participating adult) and no previous experience of glass working is required. Please wear enclosed footwear and suitable clothing.

The total cost of the 3 hour lantern workshop is £60.00 per person and a £15.00 non-refundable deposit per person is required to secure your place. Please pay the deposit to Carousel either at the shop or we can take card payments over the phone. The balance is due on the day by cash or card.

 

The cost includes all of the materials and firings in the kiln, your completed work will be ready for collection in approximately 10/14 days and you will be advised by email when ready.
